A Mini Tour of Scotland
Doug Scott CBE … with Ven Gelong Karma Jiga

Supporting Rokpa Dundee & Community Action Nepal

Doug has once again agreed to share his fascinating adventures at venues throughout the  North, featuring two presentations, "Life and Hard times" and 'A Crawl down the Ogre', supported by Ven Gelong Karma Jiga who will introduce the evening and present a short film about his work in Scotland and the work of Rokpa elsewhere.

Doug was the first Britain to successfully summit Everest, along with the late Dougal Haston in 1975. He realised that the Sherpa's who assisted the climbers lived and worked under very harsh conditions and needed help. With this in mind he formed Community Action Nepal to help them. Since then he has dedicated his life to raise funds for over forty projects to benefit the Sherpa's and their communities.

The Talks
'Life and Hard Times'

All Venues except the Byre Theatre, St Andrews.
This presentation features a fine collection of historical images illustrating his climbs and expeditions from Derbyshire gritstone in the fifties, to worldwide, and finally Everest via the South West Face, to helping the village people who helped him and his friends climb some 45 peaks in Asia.

'A Crawl Down The Ogre'…….for One Night only
At The Byre Theatre, St Andrews
This is the incredible story of Doug's battle with the mountain that almost claimed his life, and reveals his tortuous eight day struggle to safety from close to the 24,000ft summit – with both his legs broken! Not until now, 30 years after that incredible death-defying journey has Doug Scott spoken publicly about what he went through.
