The Dundee Buddhist Centre Scottish and Tibetan Origins Akong Tulku Rinpoche and Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche The world renowned Samye Ling Tibetan Centre and monastery was founded by two Tibetans abbot's; Chogyam Trungpa Tulku and Dr. Akong Tulku Rinpoche in 1967. It was the first of its kind in the Western world and nestles in the hills of the Scottish borders. Over 40 years it has subsequently grown and developed into a monastery and internationally renowned Buddhist centre. It is part of the Rokpa Trust which is a non-political spiritual and humanitarian organisation with branches throughout the world. The monastery at present is presided over by the Venerable Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche, the brother of Akong Tulku. Lama Yeshe Losal completed 12 years in solitary retreat and was asked to become retreat master and eventually abbot of Samye Ling Monastery. He is the founder of the world famous Holy Island Project on the West Coast of Scotland.
