The Dundee Buddhist Centre
Tibetan Origins
Buddhist practitioners at Rokpa Dundee follow the Karma Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism which is renowned for its emphasis on meditation practice.
The Kagyu Tradition is one of the four main schools of Tibetan Buddhism. It is renowned for its emphasis on meditation as embodied by such great masters as Tilopa and Naropa from India and Marpa, Milarepa and Gampopa and the Karmapas whose example inspired people throughout Tibet.
The Karmapas have been the supreme heads and primary source of refuge for the Kagyu lineage since the 12th Century and have transmitted the entire Kagyu line of teaching to their students until the present Karmapa, Orgyen Trinley Dorje.
